Getting Started

Prerequisites

Playing Videos

When you click a link to a video, wait for the MoviePlayer to appear. Click on the play button to start the video.

Note:
The video clips are MPEG files. Due to the size of some clips, MoviePlayer may take several seconds to appear after you click a link.

Troubleshooting

If Netscape appears showing text instead of the MoviePlayer window . . .

MoviePlayer is not set up correctly. On the Desktop, click the CD-ROM icon to show its contents. Then click the StartHere icon and follow the instructions for configuring MoviePlayer. You can choose either automatic or manual configuration.

If you choose manual configuration, and the Netscape Helpers panel does not have a New button . . .

you have an old version of Netscape. Install Netscape 3.0S.

If the video loads very slowly or doesn't load at all . . .

make sure the automatic configuration worked. To double-check the configuration, choose Options > General Preferences from the Netscape menu. Click the Helpers tab. You should have a MIME type called video/mvptr in the MIME Configuration Files column. If you don't have this MIME type, see Setting Up MoviePlayer to manually configure Netscape.

If the video sound is choppy and plays slowly . . .

you are probably running this CD on a double-speed (2X) CD-ROM drive. This disc is optimized for a quad-speed (4X) CD-ROM drive.

If an error message tells you to insert another Disc, and the link still doesn't work . . .

close Netscape. Make sure you have inserted the correct disc in the CD-ROM drive. Click the CD-ROM icon to open its directory view. Double-click the StartHere icon to reopen Netscape.
